YIN YANG QUIZ

HOW TO BALANCE YOUR YIN YANG WITH FOOD, LIFESTYLE HACKS AND NATURAL MEDICINE

The dance between the masculine and feminine is the very reason we exist in this polarized universe. The Uni-Verse sings to ONE verse however within that oneness, duality exists in order to create the balance and harmony. In essence, this is what oneness is for without duality, we cannot seek to perfect it. Ah, the hard life lessons!

Whether you believe in God or not, the Universe works in ways we struggle to understand given our limited resources and functions but one thing is for sure, there is certainty in the belief that we are here for a reason and it is to explore our surroundings and co-exist with them, from them and all in between.

Therefore, the yin and the yang according to traditional Chinese medicine and philosophy suggest that the balancing of both creates harmony within ones body, mind and spirit.

Yin, said to represent the feminine and Yang, said to represent the Masculine. Both have equally dualistic tendencies and manifestations throughout the human body and express themselves in ways to present you with the intuitive clues to know what it is your body wants and needs in order to restore balance. The Eastern medicine philosophies are based on intuition and feeling rather than Western scientific data. Both concepts themselves miles apart and proving dualistic in their nature also. Where modern Western Science needs to see data to believe it, Eastern science needs to believe it to see it so to speak. One is based on mind the other emotion. Neither right or wrong, but both intrinsically useful. The only problem is that as a global whole, we have been so accustomed to believe that the right way and the only way is the way of the West as it is what is known as mainstream and the Eastern philosophies that for centuries we’re so valued and sacred have now long been shunned and pushed aside in favour of the ‘science that can be seen to work’. Thus, creating an imbalance between the 2.

Unfortunately however, with the Western approach we are seeing that actually, it doesn’t always work. Along with modern Western science and medical protocols come a modern western lifestyle. All in, this is a recipe for disaster and the healthcare system in reality is only creating sickness in order to fund itself and keep the wheel turning.

TIME TO CHANGE!

Over the last 10 yrs there has been an increasing curiosity and exploration for alternative practice and ways of promoting healthy lifestyles. People have lost faith in the system and have branched out to create new ones and in doing so, have realised through blind faith and belief that the ones they have stepped in to work. Many of these are based on Eastern principles and modalities and the deeper you explore these paths and their available treatment options and lifestyle approaches, in that exploring alone we can see that have re-directed our society and started to birth new ways of viewing and considering medical concepts and healthcare options based on universal laws, natural methods, cyclical principles and traditional values. I would consider that a win!

YIN

YIN – The blessed feminine manifestations. Yin seasons, Autumn and Winter. Our cold, wet, dark times where we go within and become introspective and reflective. A period for slowing down and finding your comfort in the darkness. We tend to live our lives at fast pace, so typically speaking, people tend to have more yang than yin and it is said that when the yin rises and matches the yang in balance, we will shift how we live our lives and perceive our surroundings. An interesting point of reference could be, the lockdowns of 2020 saw the slow pace across the globe increase as the world went in to hibernation. As this occurred, there was a well noted rise of divine feminine energy felt and shared across the Nations. It encouraged us to embrace our slower, feminine side and find a deeper connection to it as opposed to the fast, masculine dynamics of the rat race. The embracing of nature, circadian rhythmic living, mindfulness, yoga and intuitive eating became popular and found its place in the mainstream. This is Yin energy counteracting the yang. Not overbearing but nonetheless rising up the scales to find balance with its counterpart and as far as most are concerned it is very much needed. On a personal spectrum, this slowing down and finding your own quiet space within is very yin centered and is very much in need for most of us. Practices such as yin yoga, slow, restorative poses and postures that work deeper within the fibers and structures of us all, weight training is also considered a yin practice as it is low impact and works deeper within the body fibers using less fuel to create a more internal fire efficiently without exhausting or depleting the body’s yang. And then when it comes to our cyclical patterns, as women especially, we are bound to the tides and our bodies spend their lifetimes moving in accordance to the 28 day dance with the moon so depending on where we are in our cycle, the storage of yin energy is detrimental to how much blood we produce for our cycles, how much energy we store for the yang period and how much minerals we can absorb due to our body’s capacity for restoration when naturally required.
